Betty Burn Paws (aka) Rosie
When Betty Burn Paws was rescued in July of 2025 from Coachella Valley Animal Campus and came into our care, her condition was devastating. At first, it was thought her front paws has been burned on hot pavement - but quickly became clear that her injuries were far more severe. Betty had been horrifically abused: her paws were bleeding beneath bandages, and her body showed signs of caustic material being poured from the top of her head down her spine.
For the first couple of weeks, she saw our veterinarian daily for intensive care. Her paws were soaked, treated, and carefully wrapped; her back and head received constant attention. Thanks to this dedicated care - and Betty’s own unshakable will - she began to heal. After just a month, she was able to walk barefoot again, with her scabs nearly gone.
What’s most remarkable, though, is her spirit. Despite everything she endured, Betty remains gently, kind, and endlessly sweet. She is living proof of resilience, and she reminds us daily why we do this work: to give love, dignity, and healing to those who need it most.
