Lucy, Peewee & Blanco, aka “The Gangsters”
At Barkee LaRoux, we’ve always had a soft spot for bonded rescues, and this spirited trio — affectionately known as The Gangsters and our second set of “triplets” — instantly captured our hearts.
Blanco, at 17, was the frail elder statesman of the group. Blind, arthritic, and often tired, he still welcomed gentle kisses when the mood struck, reminding us that even the most fragile dogs have so much love to give.
Peewee, a 16-year-old silky terrier, was the tough guy of the gang — grumpy and strong-willed on the outside, but secretly a softie who cherished snuggles when he decided it was time.
Lucy, the “baby” at 12, overcame serious digestive challenges that once left her hospitalized. With the right treatment, she blossomed into a thriving, joyful girl, soaking up love alongside her brothers.
Together, Lucy, Peewee, and Blanco showed us the power of resilience, the beauty of lifelong bonds, and the joy of giving senior dogs the dignity and care they deserve. Though they have now crossed the rainbow bridge, their love for one another — and the lessons they left us — will always remain. 🌈🐾
